ABOUT THE BODMIN BLOGGER
Fred grew up in the Pennines in Lancashire on the edge of an industrial town but with easy access to the countryside. It was an interesting mix of farmland and the wide expanse of the moors and he enjoyed all aspects of nature.
In his teens he was impressed and influenced by Jack Hargreaves, a TV presenter of “How” and “Out of Town” and “Country Boy”, who’s laid back style and informative narrative made a deep impression - as did the original “Romany” books.
Leaving the Pennines, next stop was Hull University to emerge with a degree in Geography and Geology. Working for a year or so in UK, he left in the early 1980’s to go to South Africa, where he worked in the mining industry.
Meeting his wife and with two daughters in due course, after 16 years they moved to Indonesia, for six years, then Australia and then back to UK. Although they thought they had thought the travelling was over, work then took them to Colombia, Mongolia and Russia.
Fred is now safely in Cornwall and will (probably) not leave again (at least not for long).
His interests, besides all things nature and his family, revolve around history, sport, reading and real ale.
